    Jane Morgan

    Hi all,

I am very new to this scene and trying to get a feel for it. I currently work as a nurse, in a neonatal unit in South Australia. I am also the mother of a one year old.
I aspire to write and illustrate young children’s books. I have some unrefined art skills and a lot of ideas, but not much knowledge of the industry or processes of submission.
I would love some direction as to what level of qualification publishers like to see in a children’s literature author/illustrator (I have no qualifications in these areas, only interest and some natural skill).
I am aware that the area of children’s picture books is flooded with interested novices. How can I develop my skills to appeal to the publishers and succeed in this field?

    Kind regards,
