Hi, this is probably a pretty basic question for many of you, but I'm wondering if anyone can help. All of my published works have been in academia and I am now trying to branch out into magazine article writing. I have some pieces I'd like to submit for possible publication. The magazines I'm interested in specify to make contact by phone before submitting anything. This is fine, but I am wondering what I should say - how much information about the article am I required to give. Do I have to 'sell myself' over the phone? I'm a bit nervous about this, actually and I know it sounds silly. Does anyone have advice for making that initial contact? Thanks. |
