Hiya! I'm running late, too. bedtime routine for the littley as usual, and all that.

when I finally sit down, I'll be re-working the dramatic climax scene of my book. Action, angst and all that fun stuff. Trying to make the bad guy creepier. Finally finally finally figured out his motivation today (it only took a few years). This is where the hero and the baddie finally come face to face, but only for a moment.

Because I have the attention span of a gnat at present....

Longhand is the only way I can kickstart my brain. Lead pencil & lined paper all the way. Have noticed using it tapers off after the 30K mark though.....

I don't have to worry about son's bedtime anymore - he goes after me (joys of Year 12 *sigh*).

I think I know what you mean, Nicky. When I'm starting a new written work, I often find it easier to use good old-fashioned pen and paper. It often seems easier to get started with pen and paper - if all else fails, you can doodle until inspiration comes!

There is something very phsyical about holding a pencil that a keyboard doesn't do for me. My other half has taken to voice dictation over typing (brain goes faster than fingers).

I doodle a long time before I start the words. My *cough*planning*cough* is an A2 blank art book, colouring pencils (occasionally cray-pas) & my brain. Out of that comes a bullet point word document that is the mud map of the story to be told :-)

Damn, trying to fit too much back story in to my first few chapters - it's feeling wrong, wrong, wrong. :-(

Wrote my scene: 700 words, which is not bad considering I had to tend to my young first. I'm going to call it a night, y'all. Hope you're all writing like the wind. xx

Ciao Kim. Hope she settles down for you. Happy writing in the morning :)

I've typed in one day's worth and working through yesterday's words (a lot of lines & asterisk spots aka "find words" here pointers).

Well, I have 900 words so far, fairly happy with that. It seems like everyone is running off already, so I'll wish you a happy International Women's Day before I'm the only one left!

I think I'm at one of those spots where it's a good idea to stop -- while the story is still flowing. Time for a new scene though; I need to write in some more brimstone!
