Upcoming Competitions/Events

    • Voices on the Coast - Youth Literature Festival
      The Festival brings some of the finest writers and performers for young people to Queensland's Sunshine Coast each year. It features writers' panels, book-talks, storytelling, workshops and performance and aims to provide a diverse cultural experience for its regional participants.
    • Lochee Andison Youth Literary Award
      The Award is named after the late Lochee Andison, a foundation member of the SA Branch of the Society of Women Writers. It is open to all South Australian secondary students. Prose: up to 2,000 words. Poetry: up to 30 lines.
    • Children's Peace Literature Award
      The Children's Peace Literature Award is a biennial award to one or more Australian authors and/or illustrators of books for children that encourage the peaceful resolution of conflict or promote peace at the global, local or inter-personal level. Nominations can be made by publishers and by authors or illustrators. Submissions are requested in letters to publishers and through newspapers and journal notices in March of award years. The judges have discretion to divide the prize between up to three books they consider to be of merit. If, in their opinion, no entry is worthy of the prize, no winner shall be chosen. Confirm closing date with organisers.
    • Todhunter Literary Award
      An annual competition for a short story, essay or play of literary merit between 3,000 and 5,000 (spoken) words. Winners are announced in November, with the announcement of the next year's topic. All entrants are advised by mail. An individual report on work submitted can be ordered by any entrant. Please check website to confirm details and closing date.
    • Wesley Michel Wright Prize in Poetry
      Entries are invited from Australian citizens for this prize for original verse or poetry in the English language. Submissions should consist of a poem, suite of poems, or collection of poems to a minimum length of 50 lines.
